Luther marries a runaway nun – June 13, 1525
The 42-year-old former monk eventually married a 26-year-old runaway nun named Katharina von Bora, in a wedding that was considered controversial even by fellow Protestant leaders.
During their 21 years of marriage, the Luthers had six children and lived in Wittenberg, with von Bora providing her own extensive support for the Reformation.

“Katie managed the family finances and freed Luther for writing, teaching and preaching,” wrote Dan Graves of Christianity.com.
“Luther called her the ‘morning star of Wittenberg’ since she rose at 4 a.m. to care for her many responsibilities. She took care of the vegetable garden, orchard, fishpond, and barnyard animals, even butchering the stock herself.”
