Sex-Selective Abortion Ban Bill Receives Opposition
Pro-life supporters are wondering why there is opposition against a legislator from Utah who is putting forth legislation that would effectively ban sex-selective abortions.
Utah State Senator Margaret Dayton recently put forth legislation that would prohibit abortions conducted in the state if they were based in any manner on the unborn child's sex, race or any other discriminatory factor.
Amazingly, representatives from Planned Parenthood and other abortion advocates in the state are opposing this particular piece of legislation. They believe the proposed legislation would effectively solve a problem that abortion advocates maintain does not exist.

Karrie Galloway, president of Planned Parenthood of Utah, is one of the abortion advocates that is fighting the proposed "Gender Selection Abortion Prohibition" legislation.
She recently stated that one of the reasons that her organization would be opposing such a measure was due to the proposed bill effectively being a "solution looking for a problem."
She also added that she is unaware of any sex-selection abortions or race-based abortions occurring in Utah.
"I personally am not aware of any suspected abuse in that arena … therefore, I see it as a solution looking for a problem," Galloway said in a statement.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see what (Dayton) has in mind," Galloway added. "I would suspect that the only reason one would be looking at this type of legislation is to do abortion legislation, not to solve a problem."
Father Frank Pavone, president of Priests for Life, urged followers of Christ to encourage elected officials to support life in an article that was published on LifeNews.com.
"If public servants cannot tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public, they don't belong in public office," Pavone wrote.
"How can anyone make the case that we can tolerate [abortion] while we work with the candidate on 'social' programs? The heart of what is 'social' is that it respects the other person," he added.
