The reason for Debbie's decision to bring a bag of flour around is to convince Fiona to let her keep her baby. It was revealed that Fiona will be pushing Debbie to have an abortion, while Fiona feels as though she should keep the baby.

The executive producer of the series, Nancy Pimental, recently spoke to TV Line about the two sisters and how their relationship will progress for the rest of the season. She stated, " What we really wanted to do with Debbie — this storyline is so great [and] is already causing so much talk — was to show teenage pregnancy in a different way than we've seen it, where her choice actually kind of make sense and she has thought about this and she is mature in her own way."

She also added that they wanted to present a different perspective toward her pregnancy since Debbie believes as though her life is not ruined because of her new baby. This gives a new way of looking into the issue of young pregnancy. It also addresses some feminist ideas that the show aims to put in persepective.

With that, fans can catch "Shameless" season 6 episode 2 this Jan. 17.
