'Shameless' Season 7 News: Theme for the Next Season

Even though Season 6 of "Shameless" had just ended, details about the upcoming season of the series have already been revealed.

After the explosive finale of Season 6, which showed Frank (William H. Macy), ruining the wedding of Fiona (Emmy Rossum), fans are definitely not looking forward to seeing Frank once again. The episode ended with the Gallaghers throwing Frank into a lake, which paves the way for what is to come for the family in the upcoming season.

The executive producer of the series, Nancy Pimental, recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about Season 7. Pimental explained, "As we're diving into season seven and, perhaps season eight, which one of the Gallaghers has the tools and the potential to get out of their circumstances and what would that look like? Do they end up falling back? It's something we're constantly exploring."

She said that it will remain a main theme for the upcoming season as it will present a big statement for society. Pimental explained that they wish to show how an individual could be offered so many opportunities but their potential can be hindered by family. With that, they will explore the question of family legacy.

As for Fiona and Sean, there is still question regarding their plans to wed. According to Jeremy Allen White, the actor who plays Sean, there is still a chance that they will push through with their marriage despite what Frank had revealed to Fiona about Sean.

White said, "I think there's something there with Sean and Fiona. When she yelled that at him during their fight, I think something clicked in Sean's head where he was like, 'I want to marry that woman. I don't know if there's a part of me that's, like, rooting for them even though he's been doing heroin this whole time, but I don't know. I really don't know."

"Shameless" Season 7 is expected to release January 2017.
