'Sherlock' Season 4 News: Cumberbatch Shares Excitement

Fans have been anticipating the return of BBC's "Sherlock" series ever since the end of Seasoon 3, which was released a couple of year ago.

After years of waiting, fans will be happy to hear that the filming for "Sherlock" Season 4 have already began. With that, there is much to expect when Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return to the small screens to reprise their roles as Sherlock and Dr. Watson.

The long delay was because of Cumberbatch and Freeman's busy schedules, due to the several projects they are involved in. Cumberbatch recently spoke to Telegraph about his excitement to be working on "Sherlock" again. He said, "I can't wait for everyone to see season four. But you will have to wait... though not for long... And it will be worth it."

In addition to the news of the production beginning, Vanity Fair revealed that the male-centered narrative will soon be directed by a female, for the first time. It was said that Rachel Talalay will be joining the group as director of the upcoming season.

Talalay is best known for her work on several other series such as "Doctor Who," "The Flash," and "The Wind in the Willows." She will be responsible for directing the first three episodes of the season. With the fresh perspective on the series, co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss shared their anticipation for the release of the new season.

In a statement, they stated, "Sherlock series four—here we go again! Whatever else we do, wherever we all go, all roads lead back to Baker Street and it always feels like coming home. Ghosts of the past are rising in the lives of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson bringing adventure, romance and terror in their wake. This is the story we've been telling from the beginning. A story about to reach its climax ..."

However, there has yet to be a release date announced for the upcoming season of "Sherlock."
