'Sleepy Hollow' Season 2 Spoilers: Characters Return From the Dead, New Monsters Arise

Fox has announced a premiere date for the hit series "Sleepy Hollow," along with plenty of juicy spoilers and information about what to expect this upcoming season. Read on for more details and get ahead of the game; expect anything and everything from "Sleepy Hollow."

When we last left Abbie and Ichabod, things had drastically changed for the worse. Ichabod was buried alive by the son he thought was dead, and War of the Four Horsemen was released. Abbie was trapped in purgatory and left to fend for herself, while her sister Jenny may be dead. That's quite the setup for the upcoming season.

"With Irving incarcerated, we have to figure out who's going to be in charge of the law and order in Sleepy Hollow," executive producer Mark Goffman said during a panel. However, the new sheriff will not be a friend to Ichabod and Abbie and present a new stumbling block that they will have to deal with once they return from their current situations.

Andy Brooks is likely to return from the dead for several episodes; it won't be the first time that he's done so, either. Will he still try to help Abbie and Ichabod, or has he finally turned a corner and given himself over to the dark side once and for all? And even though he returns from the dead, there are even more creatures to pay a visit to Sleepy Hollow.

"We're creating a new creature that our team kind of controls but doesn't," executive producer Len Wiseman said. "It's a dangerous creation that Headless will have to face … that's as evil and scary as Headless. They have one element of the Headless Horsemen that they possess: His head!"

"It's a season about war," Goffman added. "It's a season about redemption. What do you do when your son becomes the horsemen of the apocalypse? That's what Ichabod is going to have to contemplate if he gets out of that pine box."

"Sleepy Hollow" returns on September 22 on Fox.
