'Sons of Anarchy' Season 7 Spoilers: New Sheriff in Town, Annabeth Gish Joins Cast
The seventh and final season of "Sons of Anarchy" will not kick off until Sept. 10, but fans can already look forward to a new face in Charming.
The FX drama hired "The Bridge" star Annabeth Gish in the role of a smart and edgy new sheriff in the fictional town of Charming, according to reports this week. Gish's character, Althea Jarry, will be looking into the murders of both Sheriff Eli Roosevelt and Tara Knowles when she quickly realized she must collaborate with SAMCRO, TVLine reported.
Meanwhile, season six ended with the shocking death of Tara at the hands of Gemma Teller. Fans are anxiously anticipating season seven since the horrific murder by meat fork is still a mystery to Gemma's son, Jax. After the loss of his best friend Opie and now his wife, there is no telling what Jax's reaction may be to his mother's act of betrayal. "SOA" executive producer Kurt Sutter described Tara's death late last year, hinting at big changes for Jax.

"Obviously, it's a major shift in the mythology," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I knew that, ultimately, where I wanted to take Jax in that final season is I wanted to remove his true north for that last season. I feel like there need[ed] to be, for someone like Jax, a major psychic and emotional shift."
Season seven, Sutter says, will explore "what happens to a guy who has lost both of the people who he loved the most and who centered him the most," referring to Tara and Opie.
"It is Jax untethered and on his own in the final season," Sutter warned.
Furthermore, season seven will kick off with a small time jump.
"I don't want to lose the weight of what's happened," Sutter explained to EW. "So there may be a little bit of a time [jump], like we did [in season six], which was a few weeks."
