'Spider-Man' Reboot Cast News: 'K.C. Undercover' Star Zendaya Further Confirms Upcoming Role In Marvel Film
Earlier this March, a casting report came in pointing out to the latest name tied to Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' yet to be titled Spider-Man reboot project. It has been confirmed that "K.C. Undercover" star Zendaya will join Tom Holland in the upcoming solo movie of the Friendly Neighborhood.
In her latest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the singer-actress, whose role is yet to be known, shared her excitement for coming on-board with the film.
"It's very exciting. When it comes to the acting space, I'm basically unknown," the 19-year-old said to Ellen DeGeneres. "I've never been in a real movie before or anything like that, so I had to start from the bottom like anyone else. I auditioned and auditioned and auditioned and [broke] down those walls, because a lot of people do have that pre-conceived notion of who I am based off previous things I've done, so you got to really break that down and go hard, put in the work, take all the meetings, take all the auditions."

When asked further about her role in the film, Zendaya kept mum on the details. However, her IMBD profile listed her character as "Michelle." Screen Rant added that the name in question could be the criminal defense lawyer that Holland's titular hero shares a flat with, Michelle Gonzales. The website, however, cited several other rumors saying that Zendaya might have a "key role" in the film.
In 2015, Sony signed a deal with Marvel Studios to allow the studio to use their superhero franchise as a supporting character in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." Following the web-slinger's reentry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man will then appear in his own film slated to premiere in 2017. Both studios will reportedly work hand in hand to bring back the New Yorker into the big screen. Directing the film is Jon Watts whose recent works include "Cop Car" and "Clown."
