The Giants made an unlikely comeback in Game 5 by beating the Cardinals 5-0, meaning the series continued with the scores 3-2 to the Cardinals.

Again tonight if the Cardinals win they are through to the World Series, where as if the Giants can claim another win they will tie things up at 3-3 and the series will go down to a winner takes all final Game 7 on Monday night.

Not many had given the Giants a chance when they were 3-1 down. Game 5 was in St Louis and many had predicted that the Cardinals would wrap up the series win then and there. But they surprise 5-0 loss means that the series does return to San Francisco tonight, and if the Giants can just pull another one out the bag tonight it will be an amazingly tense contest on Monday evening.

Barry Zito threw 7.2 innings of shutout baseball on Game 5, and was one of the main reasons the Giants are still alive tonight.

Even though the Giants won Game 5 by a convincing scoreline, not many thought that they looked convincing. And in particular in offense they looked very concerning at times. But the scoreboard at this stage in the season is all that matters, and at the end of the night it read 5-0 to the Giants. They would take a similar result tonight for sure.
