It only seems fitting that Howard be the one to announce the end of Bettany's work on the "Star Wars" spin-off given that he was also the one who announced that the Avengers star was in it in the first place. Other than Bettany, the Oscar-winning director previously announced the additions of cast members Warwick Davis and his brother, Clint, also through Twitter.

The Han Solo movie marks the third time Howard and Bettany worked on a film together. The other films the two previously worked on were "A Beautiful Mind" and "The Da Vinci Code."

Howard has posted updates from the film's set. While they were regular, he is very careful not to reveal much on this teaser posts about not spoil the film for fans.

He took over the film after its former directors left following disagreements with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan. Sources say that that both Christopher Miller and Phil Lord felt like they were being given zero creative freedom, while on the other hand, the "Star Wars" top brass were displeased by the Miller and Lord's improvisational style that resulted in unnecessary changes from Kasdan's script.

The still-untitled standalone "Han Solo" movie is set to premiere on May 25, 2018.
