'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Spoiler: Andy Serkis' Character Unveiled (VIDEO)
Andy Serkis' character in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has just been revealed, based on photographer Annie Leibovitz behind-the-scenes shots.
Annie Leibovitz just spilled the beans on English actor, Andy Serkis' character in J.J. Abrams' Episode VII, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
A Vanity Fair interview featured several of Leibovitz's photographs of the cast in costumes, including one of Serkis on set wearing a motion capture suit, his fierce expression filled with tracking dots.

According to StarWars.com, Serkis, 51, better known as the CGI Gollum/Smeagol in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and as Caesar in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," will be playing Supreme Leader Snoke, whose voice is heard in a menacing voiceover in the soon-to-be-released sequel's first teaser trailer in 2014.
Serkis, who also reprised his computer-generated Gollum role in the three "Hobbit" films, employs a menacing narration, giving rise to speculations he would be taking on a villain role.
Serkis, who like co-star Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o in her role as intergalactic pirate queen, Maz Kanata, are two of the major cast of characters who have so far been featured on online and offline publications sporting motions capture suits and tracking dots.
Leibovitz's interview disclosed nothing more than Serkis' role and image, so whether Supreme Leader Smoke turns out to be the villain in the seventh installment is up for speculation, as more details of his role have yet to be officially revealed.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which also stars the returning Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill Carrie Fisher, and Peter Mayhew, as well as franchise newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, is due to open in theaters on Dec. 18.
