'Steamworld Heist' Release Date Announced for Nintendo 3DS, Price Slashed

Turn-based tactical shootout game "SteamWorld Heist" is finally going to see the light of day as it will already be released this week. According to a report by Siliconera, the space adventure sequel will specifically arrive on Dec. 10. But as of the moment, it will only be out for the Nintendo 3DS. Console and PC gamers will need to wait a little more to get the game.

It will be available for purchase in America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The game will be launched in Japan at a later date. Gamers with Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita and PC will have to also stay tuned for the release of the game in each platform.

Techno Buffalo detailed that it will cost $19.99 as a regular price but those who purchase it before Dec. 31 can get the game at a discounted price. From $19.99, "SteamWorld Heist" will only cost £11.99 / $16.99 because of its launch sale. Pocket Gamer also noted that those who will purchase it this year can get an exclusive 3DS Home Menu theme. However, publisher Imagine and Form says that it won't be available at any other time.

The price of the indie title will be worth it as it will come with over 20 to 25 hours of gameplay. There will also be hundreds of weapons to experiment with and master as well as the almost unlimited replay value brought by the random generation of the levels. The game also contains great art, music and strategy gameplay.

As noted in Eurogamer, Image and Form boss Brjann Sigurgeirsson said, "Yeah, we know it's too cheap for that much game, but that's a whole other discussion." He also gave an objective comparison which showed that "SteamWorld Dig" costs $9.99 but the new game is 10 times bigger and better than its predecessor. He said that those who will pick up the game will get five times the value.
