Steve Nash Ex-Wife Claims He Is Avoiding Child Support

Steve Nash's contentious legal battle against ex-wife Alejandra Amarilla has continued into this week, according to reports Friday.

It was previously indicated that the Lakers' star did not want to pay child support in order to avoid raising three "spoiled" children, according to TMZ.

Today, it appears as though Nash has taken legal measures to block his ex-wife from moving from Phoenix to Los Angeles with their children in order to prevent paying child support, court documents filed by Amarilla revealed.

Because of California divorce laws, it is likely that Amarilla would receive an increase in child support if she moved to L.A.

Allegedly, Nash asked Amarilla not to leave Phoenix because the athlete believes he may be traded from the Lakers or retire from basketball altogether, according to Bleacher Report.

However, Amarilla claims that Nash is simply avoiding more child support obligations. Furthermore, Nash's ex-wife claims that her desire to relocate lies in wanting her children closer to their father, reported TMZ.

Nevertheless, a judge has issued a restraining order on Amarilla that forbids her from moving west until the former couple goes to trial.

Interestingly, last year, Nash turned down a contract with the New York Knicks and opted for the Lakers in order to be closer to his family, according to ESPN. The athlete even stated that his children were the "No. 1 reason" behind his decision to move to L.A.

Meanwhile, Nash has been with the Lakers since 2012; before that, he spent eight years with the Phoenix Suns. He and former wife Amarilla met in 2001, married in 2005, and share twin daughters Lola and Bella as well as son Matteo Joel.

With the arrival of Matteo in 2010, Nash took the opportunity to announce his divorce from Amarilla.

Today, Amarilla reportedly receives $30K per month in support from Nash, but is seeking more. Nash has contested her request, stating that she received millions of dollars from the divorce settlement and should not need any more money from him.
