'Street Fighter 5' News: New Cheater-Proof Leader Board; Beta Phase Free For PlayStation Plus Owners In Japan
There are less than two months before the release of the much-awaited "Street Fighter V," the fifth numbered entry in the "Street Fighter" franchise. The game will be made available on Feb. 16 for PlayStation 4 and PC.
One of the most eagerly anticipated features of the new game is the online points system, which was introduced in "Street Fighter 4." In an interview with Event Hubs, Capcom Director of Brand Marketing and eSports Matt Dahlgren said, "Our whole online leader board system is being completely rebuilt, so it's not going to be like the old system." He added, "We are putting a lot of effort to make it easier to understand, and to give players a much better sense of progress going along."
As for the potential for cheating, Dahlgren said in the same interview: "Cheating is definitely a conversation topic we have internally. We will have moderation tools at our disposal, and will put together our best efforts to prevent that from happening."

While he didn't reveal the exact defenses Capcom has created, he did assure fans that the company is ready to deal with players who don't want to follow the rules.
Meanwhile, the third and final beta test for "Street Fighter V," which starts this weekend, will be free for all PlayStation Plus members in Japan. The beta test comes ahead of the game's official release next year.
In the past, "Street Fighter V" players enrolled in Japan's beta test were picked via lottery, while players in other regions were able to access the beta phase by simply pre-ordering it. Capcom is now making up for this by giving "Street Fighter V" players in Japan who were able to get into the previous beta tests four more codes to unlock the next phase. These codes can be handed out to other PlayStation users.
Beta #3 for "Street Fighter V" is scheduled to go live on Dec. 18 and will run through Dec. 20.
