'Suicide Squad' News: Jared Leto Introduced Himself to Cast With Dead Pig

As fans continue to wait for the nearing release of "Suicide Squad," more and more details about production are being shared, and recently, it was revealed that Jared Leto brought about a lot of fun in the set with his pranks.

As everyone already knows, Leto is a method actor and he puts a lot of time and effort into each character that he is given. Since he was honored to play The Joker in the upcoming movie, he had to introduce his acting to the cast.

Viola Davis, another member of the cast, shared how Leto prepared not only himself but his costars as well for the iconic and most-praised role that Heath Ledger handed over to him.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Davis said Leto brought a lot of chilling and thrilling moments to the set. At one point, he sent a black and live rat to Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn). Davis said Robbie screamed, but decided to keep the rat, probably as a remembrance of Leto's awesome acting. Despite his amazing acting skills, some of his preparations for the role really gave his costars a grand and real-time first look at Batman's greatest archenemy.

Apparently, Leto's Joker isn't fond of live pigs. He likes them dead. "The henchman came in with a dead pig and plopped it on the table and then he walked out. And that was our introduction to Jared Leto," Davis said, according to The Independent.

Davis went on to explain that she was at first terrified but she realized that her costar isn't just someone from Hollywood — he was Leto and he was The Joker. "You talk about commitment," she commented.

Even before Davis shared insights about the famed actor, Will Smith (Deadshot) also shared previously that he never had the chance to meet Leto. He was only introduced to The Joker, meaning Leto really put himself in a position that will make him worthy of his role.

Meanwhile, new promo photos in the form of GIFs have also been revealed. One of the photos shows The Joker blowing out a match on fire. The serious look on the villain who drives Batman crazy is just one of the exciting scenes that fans need to look forward to.

"Suicide Squad" hits the big screens on Aug. 5.
