'Super Smash Bros. 4' News: Geno Originally Considered to Join Latest Roster But Never Made It

As fans continue to ponder on the decision to stop releasing new DLC for "Super Smash Bros. 4," a new report regarding Masahiro Sakurai's list of possible characters to be added has been released and it involves Geno.

For fans of the massive "Super Smash Bros." franchise, every bit of detail is important, and with the creator's new comments about the latest installment, there has been disappointment among fans who want more characters to be added. On the other hand, Sakurai has recently shared his thoughts on one specific character that he once considered to be added to the roster, giving fans something to put their attention to, instead of lingering on the sad news.

Geno is a wooden doll who makes use of arm guns to attack enemies. He is best known in the 1996 title "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars." He has become largely popular among those who have experienced the RPG game. Unfortunately, he never made it to the "Super Smash Bros." roster, despite Sakurai's beliefs that he is a good fit for the fourth installment.

Sakurai discussed his thoughts with the staff of the Nintendo Dream magazine for its April 2016 issue. According to the translation provided by Source Gaming, Sakurai had been planning to add Geno to the latest titles in the franchise. The famous series creator did not provide any details as to why the wooden hero was never added to any of the latest games.

During the said interview, Sakurai also dished out on the reason why he decided to stop releasing DLCs. While many fans believe that additional DLCs in the future would rake in more interest, Sakurai thinks otherwise. For the gaming expert, adding more and more characters to the already flooded rosters will only eat up the content, making the interest of players die out in the long run. Additional characters will only be boring, unlike these days, wherein gamers believe they need more. For the development team, there's enough characters at this point.
