'Supergirl' Season 1 Cast News, Update: Show Plans To Add More Female Characters
CBS is planning to introduce more female superheroes in its hit female-led superhero drama series "Supergirl" Season 1.
A report from ComicBook.com revealed that the show had recently held a press conference with media outlets. Spearheading the event was executive producer Ali Adler who, despite withholding substantial plot information, has revealed a great deal on the show's plan. According to the EP, the show is looking to add at most two female characters
"We're actually doing that now in our backorder from CBS, so we're actually working on that right now. Absolutely. There might be a little twist to that too," the showrunner revealed when asked if Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) will interact with other female characters beside her adoptive sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and her boss at work, Cat (Calista Flockhart).

When asked further if these new characters would be normal beings or if they possess super abilities, Adler replied: "These are all very good questions, [but] yes."
As to what characters from the DC universe will be flying over National City, the fans are yet to find out. However, an earlier casting report from The Mary Sue pointed out the casting of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" star Emma Caulfield into the series.
The star, who played the character Anya in the latter mentioned show, will appear in "Supergirl" as Cameron Chase.
The character was described in the site as someone whose father got murdered. Devastated by the loss, Miss Chase decided to take on the life of a law enforcer. The stern FBI agent is best known in the comics for her weapons of choice which are "manipulation" and "manpower."
"With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination," the official description went on to read.
Aside from Chase, there are also speculations pointing out the possibility that Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan Tatum) will eventually become the Superwoman.
Regardless of who's coming in, "Supergirl" Season 1 returns Monday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
