'Supergirl' Season 1 Cast News, Update: Show To Introduce Bizarro
CBS' hit superhero drama TV series "Supergirl" Season 1 is still on hiatus for the holidays but updates about the show kept on surfacing over the past few days. With just a few weeks to go, Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist) will finally resume her mission to defend National City from a slew of evil entities poised to destroy her city, the newest of which is a Silver Age comic book character, Bizarro.
Executive producer and series writer Andrew Kreisberg revealed, during his interview on the Fat Man on Batman podcast, that aside from Toyman, "Supergirl" is set to introduce Bizarro.
For those who missed it, ComicBook.com reported that Henry Czerny will be playing the role of Winslow Schott, Sr. Quoting the description provide by Warner Bros. Television, Schott, Sr. is a "mad criminal genius" who is better known as Toyman. He uses his intelligence to weaponize toys and create massive destruction.
As for the new, aforementioned character, Kreisberg did not detail which Bizarro the show will introduce. Speculations, however, were rife indicating that it could be a "Bizarro-Girl."
In the Superman comic book universe, Bizarro is often portrayed to possess the exact opposite characteristic of the Metropolis superhero. While Clark Kent has heat vision, the rogue got the frozen kind.
As for the female Bizarro, there has been multiple versions of it, the latest of which was created back in 2010 in the "Supergirl" comics. A cousin of Bizarro, Bizarro-Girl lives on Htrae and has the power to counteract what Supergirl has. In their case, she has rock vision that could go up against the superheroine's X-ray vision.
The freshman drama is slated to return to the small screen on January 4. Fans are expecting to see the clash between Kara and her brutal Kryptonian military officer uncle, Non (Chris Vance).
Stay tuned for more "Supergirl" Season 1 updates.
