Switchfoot Announces New Tour, Partnership
Newly independent rock band Switchfoot announced their fall tour plans with fellow rockers Relient K as well as a new partnership with ecumenical NGO Habitat for Humanity.
"For us this tour carries more meaning than simply a reunion of friends," said the Grammy-nominated band from San Diego. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Habitat For Humanity, and both bands are donating $1 from every ticket sold to this amazing organization committed to building homes for those in need here in the U.S. and abroad.
"It is also a chance for us all to get plugged in to being a part of the solution in our own communities," they added.

In June, Switchfoot headlined the sold-out "Rock the Boat" concert, sponsored by Evan Almighty, in support of Habitat for Humanity.
The show, which featured Relient K and Jeremy Camp, was an extension of Switchfoot's charitable work. Switchfoot had also previously held their third annual Bro-Am surf tournament to support worthwhile organizations in their hometown of San Diego.
Also this month, the multi-platinum band announced that they were cutting ties with Columbia Records after several years of "trying to make things work."
Despite their "incredible success" with Columbia, bandmembers said the differences in vision and goals that emerged had "come to a point where we feel like parting ways would be best for us, and best for Sony."
Columbia Records is the premier subsidiary label of Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Inc.
"We are continually dreaming up ways to bridge the gap between the audience and the stage; this feels like an incredible step in that direction," they added.
The band is currently working on a new album, which may come out as soon as spring 2008.
