T.D. Jakes and Kirk Franklin Team Up for Katrina Benefit Concert
Performing at the benefit concert alongside Franklin will be Yolanda Adams, Kelly Price, Mary Mary, Fred Hammond, Micah Stampley, Myron Butler & Levi and Bishop Jakes’ Potter’s House Mass Choir.
World-renowned pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes and Grammy Award winning artist Kirk Franklin will be hosting a free benefit concert to help the survivors of Hurricane Katrina to be held Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Potter’s House, 6777 West Kiest Boulevard in Dallas.
All proceeds from the evening will go directly to Tom Joyner’s BlackAmericaWeb.com Relief Fund, which aims at supplementing personal households of individual families who have opened their homes to families displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
“Like most Americans, I see the unfathomable suffering and it makes me angry,” said Jakes in an official statement. “Help cannot come quickly enough.”

Texas officials estimate that about 325,000 evacuees are still residing within the state, with 140,000 households having registered with FEMA.
“As a believer, it would be hypocritical if I did not acknowledge the pain suffering that is happening to thousands of people right now in our country due to Hurricane Katrina,” said Franklin in a statement on his website. “To those of you who are displaced from your homes and cities, please know that there are many people who are not only standing in prayer for you but also ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to reach out and embrace you during this time and the time to come.”

The show will start at 7:00 p.m. CDT with doors opening at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
