Trump talked about his efforts to improve the economic well-being of diverse communities, including the creation of "Opportunity Zones."

According to the Internal Revenue Service, an opportunity zone is "an economically-distressed community where new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment."

"To lift up forgotten and impoverished communities, we created nearly 9,000 'opportunity zones' all across our country," said Trump, who credited Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., with kick-starting the effort.
