Tameka Raymond Wants Sole Custody of Her and Usher's Children After Pool Accident

Tameka Raymond, Usher's ex-wife, is vying to obtain sole custody of their two children after a pool accident left their 5-year-old son in a coma.

Raymond filed court papers asking for an emergency hearing, claiming her ex-husband is "creating a dangerous environment" for their children, after Usher Raymond V was injured in a pool accident.

Reports have confirmed that the R&B singer's son, Usher Raymond V, was placed in the ICU on Monday. The child was allegedly diving after a toy at the bottom of the pool when he became stuck on a pool drain.

The 5-year-old was playing by the pool with his aunt before the incident occurred, TMZ reported. During play, the boy attempted to fetch a toy at the bottom of the pool when his arm became stuck on the drain. The aunt attempted to jump after the boy when he didn't immediately surface, but was unable to free him. The maid then screamed for help and jumped in afterwards.

Two male workers who heard the maid's screams hurried to the pool where they were able to free the boy, the report claimed. The child was then taken to the hospital where multiple tests were run; he is expected to have a full recovery.

Last July Usher was forced to cancel a scheduled appearance at the EPSY's after his stepson was left critically injured following a jet ski accident. The incident occurred after the 11-year-old Kyle Glover was hit while in the water. The girl responsible for the incident was only 15.

The child was rushed to the hospital, where he was medically treated. Despite efforts, however, the child was left brain dead. Two weeks after the incident, Glover's mother decided to remove him from life support. He passed immediately.

Usher became close to Kyle during his two-year marriage to Tameka Foster from 2007 to 2009.

"He grew close to Kyle and, of course, that has nothing to do with the situation with Tameka," a source explained to Us Weekly, stating that the singer "still loved" both mother and son.
