Taylor Hicks and Las Vegas Show Debut Announced (VIDEO)
American Idol winner Taylor Hicks is headed to Las Vegas where he will perform during an 8-week stint at Bally's hotel.
Taylor Hicks drew America's vote after securing the win for the fifth season of "American Idol." The bluesy singer is now set to take the stage in Las Vegas after struggling with a rocky career following his Idol win.
Hicks won the television talent show in 2006 and soon released an album that went platinum in the same year. However, only two years later it was announced that Hick's albums were earning the lowest sales out of all other Idol winners, prompting Artista records to drop the singer's contract.

In 2009 Hicks released "The Distance," his second studio album, but it did not receive the same success as the first. The album did however result in two music videos, and later that year, Hick's made the number ten spot on the top ten American Idol earners with a salary of over $300,000 a year.
Bally's announced that the Idol singer would begin a concert series on June 26th. The singer is set to perform for eight weeks, with five performances a week.
Hicks has remained mostly out of the spotlight since 2009, which has drawn added attention to his Vegas debut. Bally's hotel expressed their excitement at receiving Hicks.
"It's not every day that a property on the Las Vegas Strip can announce that an American Idol winner will be a headlining act," Bally's Las Vegas President David Hoenemeyer said in the resort's press release.
Advanced tickets to Hicks' show are currently available. Those who secure tickets will also be treated to a meet-and-greet with the star.
Hicks first auditioned for American Idol in Las Vegas by using a free voucher that he had retrieved from the airlines on the brink of Hurricane Katrina.
