'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood Evicted for Scamming Government
Amber Portwood has allegedly been evicted from her home as a result of conning the United States government.
Portwood, who lives in Indiana, has been living in a home subsidized by the state's Low Income Rental Housing Tax Credit Program. The program requires residents to meet certain standards, including only having $10,000 of income, which is what Portwood stated she had.
According to other sources, though, Portwood actually earned $280,000 in 2010, which is substantially more than the amount she claimed. This made her ineligible for subsidized housing and led to her eviction.

Currently, Portwood is enrolled in a drug rehabilitation program that she must complete as part of a plea deal.
She was originally sentenced to five years in jail for drug and probation violations on Feb. 6 but made the plea in order to avoid doing time. At the completion of the drug program, the latest charges will be expunged from her record.
Portwood is the mother of two-year-old Leah and has been in and out of jail since giving birth. MTV's "Teen Mom" has followed her story and documented several instances of domestic violence against her fiancé, Gary. Portwood has admitted on the show that she has anger issues and was seeking help for them.
This is her second stay in a residential facility; last year she attempted suicide and was hospitalized. Portwood stayed at the Seasons Recover Center in Malibu for two months before leaving.
Now, only months later, she will spend time at another facility for drug abuse.
"Teen Mom" is an original series by MTV and is currently in its fourth season. Portwood is one of the four girls sharing her story with American audiences after becoming pregnant at 16. She and partner Gary have had their ups and downs in the past two years; they are currently sharing custody of Leah.
