'Tekken 7' Comes With VR Support for Character Viewer
"Tekken 7" was earlier rumored to have virtual reality (VR) support, but Bandai Namco Designer Michael Murray clarified the reports and said the game will not include a full-fighting VR mode.
Earlier rumors said "Tekken 7" will have support for the Sony PlayStation VR headset when it is released next year. However, Murray spoke up to explain that VR support for the game itself will probably not work, according to Road to VR.
Speaking to WIRED during the Paris Game Week in October, Murray hinted that the PlayStation VR support in "Tekken 7" will not be action based; rather, he explained that it will be more of a character viewer, the report relays.

"When we announced that we're going to do something with virtual reality, people were like 'oh, so you're going to be playing in first person and hitting each other? That sounds like crap!'" Murray told WIRED.
The Bandai designer then dropped hints about "Tekken" being focused on the characters. He mentioned some sort of customization for the characters and how the techniques were all motion captured. His statement has led to the speculation that the VR support is limited to a character viewer, so fans will not be able to play their favorite characters in the first person, the report details.
Meanwhile, "Tekken 7" will be the first game n the series that will utilize Unreal Engine 4. As of now, it is already available in arcades in Japan, and Bandai has already tested it in some U.S. arcades, N4BB reports.
The ninth installment in the "Tekken" series will feature 28 new characters including Shaheen, Josie Rizal, Lucky Chloe, Jack-7, Katarina Alves, Kazumi Mishima, Akuma, and Claudio Serafino. The game will also be equipped with new fight modes, outfits, stages, and other features, the report details.
The story of the upcoming game will focus on the mystery surrounding the Mishima family. It will reveal the fate of Heihachi's wife and the roots of the Devil gene.
"Tekken 7" will be released to PlayStation 4 and possibly Xbox One next year.
