Price Henderson Gwynn – Sept. 28, 2022
Price Henderson Gwynn, a businessman and World War II veteran who was the moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA) General Assembly in 1990, died at the age of 99.
The son of a preacher, Gwynn also served as a trustee of Presbyterian Hospital and Presbyterian Health Services Corporation, a trustee of Davidson College, the chairman of the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, a trustee of St. Andrews Presbyterian College and a trustee of Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, Virginia.

In a 1998 interview about his experiences as a layman who moderated the 1990 General Assembly, Gwynn noted that he “emphasized that it’s good to be a Presbyterian.”
“I’m proud to be in that fellowship and delighted to be able to extend it to other people and happy about doing it and do so with no apologies,” he said.
