'The Americans' Season 4 News, Update: Showrunner Shares Details During TCA Panel
Executive producer and co-showrunner Joel Fields dished out a handful of details about the upcoming Season 4 of FX's hit espionage drama TV series "The Americans" during the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday, Jan. 16.
At the event, Fields announced that the new installment of the Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys-starred series is now slated to premiere on Wednesday, March 16 at 10/9c.
The show, which was originally slated to return to the small screens in late January, will consists of 13 brand new episodes. According to Fields, the new chapter will pick up on the events where Season 3 had left. For those who missed it, Paige (Holly Taylor) revealed to Pastor Tim (Kelly Aucoin) that her parents, Elizabeth (Russell) and Philip (Rhys), are in fact spies.

"The game has certainly shifted in terms of parenting Paige," the EP told the press and was quoted over at TVGuide.com. "The question of focusing on her recruitment is now secondary to how to manage this family's survival [after] what's gone down."
According to Deadline.com, Fields, however, kept quiet on the details involving Agent Nina (Annet Mahendru) who was captured and currently incarcerated in Russia. It has yet to be known if the double agent will return to States.
The show boss also divulged during the event that fans will get to explore more about the young Jennings, Henry (Keidrich Sellati).
"In the first two episodes, he's spending more time with his neighbor (Stan), which is both fun for us to play and (provides) a little subtle threatening. There'll be more for him as the season unfolds," he said, according to the Deadline.com report.
With regards to the show's future, TVLine cited the exec producer admitting that the answer is still hanging up in the air.
"Honestly, I don't think we yet know the answer to that," he said. However, Fields revealed that the network is still putting their faith on the show, as evident in the creative freedom which was granted to them by FX.
