'The Blacklist' Spinoff Series Cast News: NBC Drama Signs In 'How To Get Away With Murder' Star In Offshoot Series
As of the moment, NBC's hit crime fighting drama TV series "The Blacklist" Season 3 is on hiatus. It last aired on Feb. 25 with episode "The Caretaker." It will return with a two-parter segment called "Mr. Solomon." The following week after that, "Mr. Solomon: Conclusion" will then kick off.
For the meantime, reports in the entertainment world are rife with the details concerning the network's upcoming small screen project, a "Blacklist" spinoff series.
According to TVLine, NBC is looking to develop an offshoot of the show starring James Spader and Megan Boone, with the focus on the character that will be essayed by "How To Get Away With Murder" star Famke Janssen.
Joining Janssen is another newcomer, Tawny Cypress of "Unforgettable." The latter, as reported by Deadline will first appear in a recurring role in the remaining episodes of the original series. She will become a series regular should the peacock network will proceed to develop the aforementioned new show.
Janssen's part will be that of Susan "Scottie" Halsted while Cypress' role will be Nez Rowan. The media outlet teased that the yet to be titled spinoff will feature Scottie's relationship with Tom (Ryan Eggold), similar to what Red (Spader) and Liz (Boone) shared in the parent show.
Speaking of the original cast, a separate report from TVLine meanwhile said that Edi Gathegi, who plays Season 3's big bad, Mr. Solomon, will join the new lineup. As already mentioned, he will be joined with Eggold who is rumored to be one of the major characters.
Fans will eventually get an idea on what the companion show will be about. As reported, a May 12 episode will serve as a backdoor pilot for the potential series.
TVLine, however emphasized that there is "currently no series commitment for the spinoff" and that fans will have to wait for the announcement this coming May.
Stay tuned for more updates.
