'The Flash' Season 2 Cast News, Spoilers: Mid-Season Premiere To Feature A Time-Controlling Meta-Human; Joe, Wally Butt Heads

Things are about to get even more exciting and quite complicated when the CW's hit superhero drama TV series "The Flash" Season 2 returns with a mid-season premiere that will see the titular hero (Grant Gustin) battling an opponent that can thwart his key ability: speed. Meanwhile, the Wests might have some issues with a new family member.

According to the synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic for the Season 2B opener "Potential Energy," Barry Allen and the rest of the STAR Labs team will try to catch a meta-human who can slow time itself. The character in question, according to reports, will be called The Turtle. It is yet to be found out if the show is referring to the one with whom Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) had a run-in with or the Turtle Man himself who was often called as "The Slowest Man on Earth." The latter is a huge fan of Garrick's old enemy.

Regardless of which, it has been reported over at Design & Trend that the character will be played by Aaron Douglas. The actor has been known for his role in SyFy's hit space drama "Battlestar Galactica" as Galen Tyrol.

In another development, the West family might be having a hard time dealing with Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale).

In an interview, Lonsdale told Variety that his alter-ego is "really into drag racing," a thing "which is not the ideal thing when your father is a detective and your sister's a reporter."

A set of promotional photos shared by the network featured the newcomer with his eyes focused on the road and ready to step on the gas. The succeeding images, however, showed him in a confrontation with Joe West (Jesse L. Martin)

"…that's going to cause some tension," Lonsdale went on to tell the publication, suggesting that the Central City detective might be having some trouble rearing his own son.

"The Flash" Season 2B premiere is set to air Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
