'The Flash' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Man in Iron Mask's Identity Will Be Revealed in Finale, Teddy Sears Says

Since the airing of the two-part "Welcome to Earth-2" and "Escape from Earth-2" series event earlier this season, fans of The CW's "The Flash" have been wondering about who the mystery character wearing an iron mask was.

The prisoner was locked up so elaborately in Zoom's (Teddy Sears) dungeon that Barry (Grant Gustin) was unable to free him before having to flee back to Earth-1.

While Sears would not provide any clues as to who this mysterious "man in the iron mark" is, the actor did tell Entertainment Weekly that fans won't have to wait long to find out who this person is, as his identity will be revealed in the upcoming season 2 finale.

Since the unnamed prisoner was first seen in "The Flash," fans have come up with various theories about his true identity. Some have suggested that the "main in the iron mask" could be Earth-2 doppelgängers of main "The Flash" characters or that it could even be Jay Garrick (also played by Teddy Sears) under the mask. Nevertheless, whoever it may be, it now sounds like the show's producers will be keeping his identity a secret until the very end of the current season.

"We reveal it in the finale — I had no clue last week," Sears told EW. "I didn't know who the guy was. I didn't even have a clue. Well, of course, now I know because we're shooting the finale and we'll get to that stuff next week. All has been revealed to me. I don't even know what to say because it's such a fun thing to me being nice and vague and untouched. I can promise that it will be revealed and it will be quite satisfying."

"The Flash" returns next Tuesday with "Versus Zoom." In the episode, Barry considers using a tachyon device to catch Zoom as Hunter Zolomon's Earth-2 past is revealed.

"The Flash" airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
