'The Good Wife' Season 7 News: Creators To Exit Series After Seventh Season, CBS Reveals
In a move that may put the future of CBS legal and political drama series "The Good Wife" in jeopardy, its creators, the married writing team of Michelle and Robert King, will be departing the show after its seventh season.
"The Kings did say they would not be returning after this year," CBS Entertainment president Glen Geller told the press at the Television Critics Association's press tour on Tuesday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, when asked about the reason for the creators' departure, Geller answered, "I think it's a combination of many things, one of them being they want to also work on new things." "Its important to them," he added.

"Creators like to keep creating," the CBS boss said, but revealed that the couple is ready to move on.
Should the series be renewed for another season, Geller said that the Kings may be replaced by Craig Turk, who has been working on "The Good Wife" since 2012.
Although there is yet to be official confirmation that the series will continue on to Season 8 or beyond, the CBS executive expressed optimism about the show's longevity, saying, "… It could certainly go on." "You can see every year the producers are able to reinvent what the show looks like," Geller said.
"The show looks very different than it did three years [ago] and its still a fantastic show," the CBS boss remarked.
Meanwhile, Robert King has spoken to TVLine, revealing that should there be a Season 8, he and his wife would be involved in a supervisory role. According to King, although CBS is still negotiating the deal that would make the eighth season of "The Good Wife" possible, he and co-creator Michelle have been writing for the current season with the idea that it will end in a way that would make for a satisfactory end to the series.
But "that doesn't mean we're putting Alicia in her grave," King said, pointing out that if Alicia were to die in Season 7, an eighth run would be out of the question.
Following their work on "The Good Wife," the Kings will be focusing on their new CBS series "BrainDead" and other projects.
"The Good Wife" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
