'The Mentalist' Season 6 Spoilers: 'Romantic Finale' Ahead, Jane and Lisbon Unite?
"The Mentalist" returns to CBS with another installment despite the show not yet receiving a renewal for next year.
CBS' hit drama is in its sixth season with a new episode "Forest Green" scheduled to air Sunday, but fans are wondering if the show will make it to a seventh season. In the event that "The Mentalist" is not renewed for another season, viewers are anxious to learn more about the upcoming season finale. More specifically, will Patrick Jane (portrayed by Simon Baker) finally act on his feelings for Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney).
According to spoilers this week, "The Mentalist" fans can look forward to a "romantic finale" no matter what is in store for the series' more distant future.

"It's a romantic finale rather than a [suspenseful] finale," creator Bruno Heller told TV Guide.
However, the romance may not be between Jane and Lisbon. Instead, the relationship between Lisbon and newcomer Agent Pike (Pedro Pescal) will escalate with a proposal, according to TV Guide. Fans will be left wondering if Jane will give the couple his blessing, or will he voice his feelings for Lisbon in time before the wedding.
Fortunately, Heller assures "The Mentalist" fans that the season six finale will deliver closure.
"With the death of Red John, there's a sense of tying [things] up and certainly this romantic angle is one of them," he said.
Meanwhile, Heller discussed Lisbon's romance with Agent Pike in the past before offering hints on what is in store for the pair.
"In order for her to fulfill herself- even if she eventually fulfills herself with Jane, which she may or may not do- she has to find other relationships, other perspectives, other people who love her, just to feel fully who she is," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It's very important for her to be able to step away from Jane and see herself for herself."
"The Mentalist" airs Sundays on CBS at 10 p.m. EST. The synopsis for this week's episode "Forest Green" is as follows: "A woman's body is discovered near an affluent man's club, so Jane hobnobs with some upper-crust men in an attempt to find the murderer."
