'The Night Manager' News, Spoilers: No Second Season for Series, Say Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie

"The Night Manager" stars Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie have shot down rumors about a potential second season for their six-part spy miniseries.

The series, which will soon begin airing in the U.S, was a critical and ratings success in the U.K., where it was aired by the BBC. Because viewers and critics alike loved "The Night Manager," which was based on the John le Carré novel of the same name, there has been much speculation that the serial's creators could be considering filming a second season.

Hiddleston and Laurie, however, say that the story is "done" and "complete."

In the espionage/thriller drama series, "Avengers" actor Hiddleston plays the role of Jonathan Pine, a former hotel employee and British soldier who investigates a potential conspiracy involving the U.S., the U.K., and the global arms trade. Pine infiltrates the world of murderous international arms dealer Richard "Dicky" Onslow Roper, played by "House" vet Laurie, and his girlfriend Jed, played by Elizabeth Debicki.

But because the miniseries left the door wide open for the villain's return, viewers have been wondering if a follow-up is in the works. Unfortunately, Laurie recently confirmed that there is no second season being planned and that adding to what was told in the miniseries would be going beyond the source material by le Carré.

"It's based on a novel, we've got to the end of the novel and John le Carré has yet to write another novel," the actor told the press (via The Hollywood Reporter). "So in cold practical terms, no, we're done."

"The story feels complete," Hiddleston explained. "I only ever conceived of it as an adaptation of a complete novel by John le Carré. We made some alterations, we updated it so it had a political resonance and we changed the ending a little bit. I know the rumors about it extending, but none of that is real."

"The Night Manager" will begin airing on Tuesday, April 19, on AMC.
