'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' Shines With Family Fun

The newest film by Walt Disney Pictures "The Odd Life of Timothy Green" has captured the hearts of audiences everywhere.

America's sweetheart Jennifer Garner stars alongside Joel Edgerton as a childless couple who seem overtaken by the pain and disappointment of not being able to have the family they always wanted.

When they decide to abandon all hopes of having a baby, Jim (Edgerton) and Cindy (Garner) list their favorite characteristics for a pretend child. They agree that their son would be musical, funny, high-spirited, and that he would "love and be loved."

The fun quickly fades when the reality sets in again. The couple's tearful admissions end as they decide to move on from the pain of unsuccessfully trying to have a child, and bury the box of wishes in their backyard garden.

Overnight, in a miraculous turn of events, Jim and Cindy are blessed with a young son Timothy, but he is more than what meets the eye.

While family members are mystified and dubious of Timothy during an Easter celebration the following day, Cindy and Jim overcome their insecurities and fears for the sake of their son. The brand new parents rush to defend Timothy's irregularities including his complete lack of athleticism, but all the while, the child brightens the entire day for everyone.

As the story continues to unfold, it follows loss, doubt, friendship, and the deep bonds of family as Timothy displays selflessness, bravery and unwavering love.

In an interview with Disney ahead of the film's release, Garner explained the appeal of "Timothy Green."

"Lots of movies are about parenting or have parents in them but very rarely do I see one where I'm like, 'Yes, I've done that,'" said the actress. "This one really does, and then at the same time, it's not real at all it's really magical, so you can have all of these sweeping emotions watching it but in the end it's a fantasy."

At the helm of the film is Academy Award-nominated Peter Hedges, well known for directing films including "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" "About A Boy," and "Dan In Real Life."

"The Odd Life of Timothy Green" hits theaters everywhere August 15.

The film's star Edgerton will appear in the upcoming film by Baz Luhrmann "The Great Gatsby" alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
