'The Passion' News: Twitter Goes Emotional Over Fox's Palm Sunday Special
On Sunday, March 20, 2016, Fox aired "The Passion" for some hundreds to see in New Orleans, while the rest of the world watched at home, and as expected, social media users shared how the live show affected their emotions.
According to People, one Twitter fan said, "I've never seen #ThePassion told from this perspective. Same story. Same truths. Putting it into today. Now that's cool." Another said, "I'm just glad that Jesus is being celebrated this huge on TV...Y'all understand what this man did for us? #ThePassionLive."
Before the live show aired, Tyler Perry, who hosted and narrated the modern-day version of Jesus' story took to Facebook last week and shared his thoughts. "The Passion is about love, inclusion and compassion for all mankind," he wrote. The Christian actor, producer, and songwriter went on to clarify that the show isn't only for those who believe in the Bible's most loved persona, but the story is also meant for nonbelievers.

Perry is known for his strong faith and his latest stint further proved his passion for the gospel genre. In his social media post, Perry asked for the support for believers around the country. He asked for the people's support in sending a message of hope to Hollywood for more shows that not tackle the gospel story and shows that will inspire, lift up, change lives, and leave people hopeful for tomorrow.
"The Passion" detailed the last few hours of Jesus Christ, the betrayal of his friend, his horrifying trip to the cross, and the emotions of all the people involved in what could be the most painful moments in history.
Billboard says one of the most spectacular moments of the live musicale was Jesus and Peter's duet, "Demons." Peter has just heard that he will betray Jesus and as the modern-day soldiers take Jesus away, Judas tries to play the role of the good guy.
Starring Jencarlos Canela as Jesus, Trisha Yearwood as Mary, Chris Daughtry as Judas, and Prince Royce as Peter, the movie also featured contemporary pop hits including "When Love Takes Over" and "My Love is Your Love."
