'The Young and the Restless' Spoilers, Cast Rumors: Billy Suspected in Adam's Disappearance (Preview Video)

"The Young and the Restless" fans were noticeably disappointed after the disappearance of Adam Newman, but this week could bring good news about the beloved character.

Earlier this year, Michael Muhney who portrayed Adam Newman was fired from "Y&R," and his character was believed to have died. Muhney's final episode saw Adam get into a car accident with Billy Abbot in Genoa City, and while Billy survived, Adam was not as lucky. However, Adam's wife Chelsea had doubts since his remains were never found.

Then, last week, a witness revealed to Victor and Chelsea that Adam was not in the car when it exploded, and that he had escaped the wreckage. The news has left "Y&R" fans wondering where Adam is, and, similar to Victor on the show, many audience members suspect Billy of foul play during the car accident.

Nevertheless, the witness disclosed that Adam's clothes were on fire when he climbed out the car, so it is clear he needed medical attention afterward. Victor and Chelsea continue to seek answers about Adam through the March 24-28 week, according to Celebrity Dirty Laundry.

Meanwhile, "Y&R" show runners are reportedly searching for a replacement actor for Muhney in the role of Adam as they continue to lay groundwork for the character's return. One report indicated that producers are seeking the "best actor" who the "audience will grow to love" since Adam will become "central to the show," according to RadarOnline.

Furthermore, show runners are carefully auditioning actors for the replacement role in an attempt to avoid a dramatic firing similar to Muhney's from happening again.

"If there is even a hint of diva behavior, or drama, the role won't go to that person. Period," an insider at Radar Online revealed. "Everyone wants to move on from that disaster."
