National Religious Broadcasters founded – April 12, 1944

This week marks the anniversary of when the National Religious Broadcasters, a prominent evangelical Christian media organization, was established at a meeting held in Columbus, Ohio.

Founded in response to reported efforts by mainline Protestants to limit Evangelical radio programming, the NRB would be officially incorporated at a follow-up meeting in December.

“You would think that the idea of hearing the voice of God would be one of the most important things that you would want to have blossoming and growing,” said NRB Board Chairman Michael Little at the NRB International Christian Media Convention in Anaheim, California, in 2019.

“But some of the corporate elites, some of the people who controlled the media outlets said, ‘We don’t really want those religious broadcasters on our air.’”

“Our future is bright. It’s very robust. It’s full of his creative provision,” he added. “We’re people anticipating His soon return. We’re people of the anticipation. We’re the people of the expectation.”
