R.C. Sproul dies – Dec. 14, 2017
This week marks the anniversary of when notable theologian, author and founder of Ligonier Ministries Robert Charles Sproul died at age 78, shortly after being hospitalized with breathing issues.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sproul authored around 90 books and participated in the crafting of the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, a theologically conservative declaration of faith that was signed by about 300 evangelical scholars.

In remembrance of Sproul, prominent theologian John Piper wrote in 2017, “I am sure I owe him more than I can even recall” and that his “reverence for the holiness of God and the truth of his word would not be the same without his influence.”
"He stayed close to the great doctrines of Scripture and their profound impact on life and ministry and church and missions. These have been the girders from which he has built a coherent, God-centered worldview," Piper added.
