Earlier this year, detransitioner Chloe Cole formally filed a lawsuit against the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, the Permanente Medical Group and affiliated health professionals. Cole accused the defendants of performing a "mutilating, mimicry sex change experiment" on her when she was 13.

The teenager had been suffering from various mental health issues, including anxiety and depression, and she started thinking that she wanted to identify as a male after viewing online materials that encouraged the idea. She told her parents about her desire to transition, and they took Cole for medical help.

According to the lawsuit, the doctors "immediately affirmed Chloe in her self-diagnosed gender dysphoria," warning the girl’s parents that their daughter was vulnerable to dying by suicide if she didn’t transition.

Due to the state of her mental health, the lawsuit noted that Cole needed love, care, attention, and regular weekly psychotherapy, not cross-sex hormones and mutilating surgery." After starting the “gender dysphoria treatment,” the lawsuit explained that Cole started having suicidal thoughts after she underwent a double mastectomy to remove her breasts.

As a result of the doctors “experimenting” on the teenage girl, according to the suit, Cole now suffers from "deep physical and emotional wounds, severe regrets, and distrust of the medical system."
