Tim Tebow Inactive Amid Declining NJ Jets Jersey Sales

Tim Tebow will be inactive for the New York Jets on Sunday and because of his lack of playing time this season, his jersey sales have also gone down.

Tebow, 25-year-old listed as the backup QB for the Jets, will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, according to ESPN reports. Rex Ryan, Jets head coach, reportedly made his decision to list Tebow as inactive close to one week after the QB announced that he had fractured his ribs.

Tebow spoke to the press after the Jets' 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving and admitted that he had to convince his coaching staff to let him suit up for the game in case he was needed in an emergency situation.

"I had to do a little bit of talking just to dress but I just want to be there for my teammates in case they needed me in an emergency situation," Tebow said

However, it seemed Tebow's ribs were not in any shape to play close to one week later. According to ESPN reports, third-string QB Greg McElroy will be starting Mark Sanchez' backup in the upcoming game Sunday.

Last week, Ryan spoke about benching Tebow for the Patriots' game because of his injured ribs.

"I was standing there and I was like, well shoot, I'm not going to play this kid," Ryan said in an ESPN report. "I wouldn't play my son if it was that kind of situation, but to Tim's credit, he wanted to be there for his team."

While Ryan is reportedly giving Tebow's two fractured ribs time to heal by placing him on the inactive list according to ESPN sources, the Christian NFL player's football jersey has declined in sales. While Tebow's jersey sales were at the top of the league when he joined the New York Jets last month, ESPN reports released figures that show QB's sales tanking to number eight in the league.

According to statistics provided by the network, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III now has the top-selling jersey in the NFL followed by Tebow's replacement on the Denver Broncos, Peyton Manning.
