But is it possible that Tebow could also be returning to the professional sports world as a player?

Scott McKibben, the commissioner of A-11, a new professional football league that will official kick off next season, has said that his organization has reached out to the former NFL star.

"We would love to have Tim Tebow join our league. We have talked with his lawyer, and his agent, and we have made an offer," McKibben told The Denver Post last week.

The A-11 calls itself an "aspiration league" which wants to give potential NFL players an opportunity to show off their talent.

"There are hundreds of quality players who aspire to play in the NFL, and we'll provide them with a chance to prove themselves. We'll be playing in major population and media markets in NFL stadiums, and we have the No. 1 sports network partner in ESPN," said McKibben.

The Tampa Bay Bandits and the Dallas Wranglers will play in the league's 2014 May and June exhibition games. Its inaugural season is set for 2015, where teams will play 14 regular season games from March through June, with the championship set for July.

Beyond the Florida and Texas teams, the league has also announced the New Jersey Generals, the Chicago Staggs, the LA Express and the Bay Area Sea Lions.

"We will have eight teams next year," said McKibben. "Today, the leading candidates for the remaining two franchises are the Denver Gold and the (Detroit) Michigan Panthers. Obviously, we know of the popularity and history of pro football in Denver."

Denver Post columnist Woody Paige hinted that the city, which has hosted four other (non-NFL) pro football leagues, could see the return of Tebow.

"Tebow's, uh, resurrection with a football team in Denver certainly would be, uh, entertaining and controversial and bring out the Tebowlicious fanatics and his detractor trailers," he wrote.

In Tebow's current deal as an ESPN analyst on the new SEC Network, he has an opt-out clause that authorizes him to pursue his football career should he sign with an NFL team. The A-11 spring's season would not conflict with his broadcasting responsibilities.
