'Titanfall' Developer Announces Oculus Rift VR Game
The developer behind the hit futuristic first-person shooter "Titanfall" announced that they are currently working on a virtual reality game of the Oculus Rift. The announcement was made as part of the annual Oculus Connect event to showcase advancements in VR.
Respawn Entertainment detailed their upcoming VR game via an announcement trailer as well as a blog post on their website. Like "Titanfall," the game will also be a shooter and is slated for launch in 2019.
Other than that, not much else is known about the game. However, it is fairly certain that it will be an original IP (intellectual property) and will have nothing to do with either "Star Wars" or "Titanfall."

Back in March, Respawn said that their third-person "Star Wars" IP is staying under wraps. As for "Titanfall," the game already received its sequel and appears to be going strong.
With regards to VR game development, Director Peter Hirschmann called emotion "the most intense" part of making a game.
"While you know you're wearing a headset, your brain processes VR on an emotional level," he said, adding "it's all kinds of awesome."
In the announcement video, it was detailed that the company's aim is to create a realistic first-person combat experience. According to CEO Vince Zampella, they want to depict being a soldier in combat in a more fully fleshed out and realistic way.
This focus on realism, coupled with the VR experienced provided by the Oculus Rift, holds a lot of promise for gamers. It would be interesting to see what the people at Respawn have in store in 2019.
The Oculus Rift recently received a permanent $100 price cut, and now costs $399. As for Respawn's latest IP, "Titanfall 2" was released late last year to critical acclaim and is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows.
