Whether Irish or not, many are looking forward to celebrating St. Patrick's Day which is a cultural and religious celebration held every March 17. It is in honor of Saint Patrick, Ireland's foremost patron saint. And though it was originally just celebrated in its home country, the event became an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, and of course, special foods.

For those who are planning to whip up something special for the holiday, there are so many recipes available that would best fit the event. One can even prepare foods that come in the green color and from authentic Irish recipes.

As detailed in Telegraph, homes celebrating St. Patrick's Day should make or pick up Darina Allen's Ballymaloe brown yeast bread. Originally made at the Ballymaloe House for more than 60 years, the recipe for this load bread has been revealed. The three main ingredients, whole meal flour, treacle and yeast, are all highly nutritious.

For the main event, the family would love an Irish-style roast leg of lamb with an herb pesto. They can also opt to go for a Jameson whiskey Irish ribs recipe which is made with a rick whiskey and beer marinade with spices and chili poured over beef or pork ribs. An Irish feast will not be complete without a dish made with Guinness, thus, a Stout Beef Stew is a must.

Making a recipe with Irish favorite potato is also a great addition to a scrumptious feast. Bustle detailed that one can make green eggs and potato skillet. A sour cream and onion jacket potatoes will also be delightful meal.

For desserts, Irish cream puffs are the way to go. Coloring it green, the cream puffs are a great match with beer. One must also make the traditional shamrock cookies. Customize it by coating it with a thick layer of green sugary frosting to keep in line with the St. Patrick's Day theme.
