'Toy Story 4' Update: Rashida Jones Hopes Movie Will Create 'Balance' in Industry

Ever since "Toy Story 4" was confirmed, fans have been longing for more information, aside from the announcement in mid-2015 that the plot will be revolving around Bo Peep and Woody's love story.

Recently, rumors have been emerging about the possibilities that could be opened with Pixar's attempt to rekindle the blooming love between Woody and Bo Peep.

In a recent interview with Refinery 29, Rashida Jones, who is currently working with Will McCormack to create the movie's script, shared some insight on how she sees the fourth installment in the massively successful franchise.

When asked about Bo Peep's character and how she will affect the plot, Jones said, "Hopefully it will be another great strong female character to balance out the still ridiculously male-centric industry of media that's supposed to represent real life. Hopefully, it will add to that balance," she said.

Jones' statements are considered to be some of the bravest words from someone who has seen the highs and lows of the film industry. For the most part, a lot of fans would agree that the film industry, including animated movie creation, has been shining the spotlight on male roles, leaving the ladies somewhere down the road.

However, as a new generation of writers, directors, and producers is slowly rising to fame, it is expected that more writers like Jones will give the female lead a much brighter future in the field.

To be directed by John Lasseter, the expectations are really high for the fourth installment. As Cinema Blend put it, "Lasseter is the heart and soul of Pixar." Fans can then give out a sigh of relief, as Lasseter is known to produce in projects that he works with.

Tom Hanks and Annie Potts are expected to lend their voices once more to Woody and Bo Peep respectively, for the upcoming movie.

"Toy Story 4" is obviously in good hands and will be released with romance in the air in June 2017.
