'Genocide Games': Trump officials, freedom advocates react to Biden's boycott of Beijing Olympics
Trump administration alumni condemn boycott as a ‘joke’
Politicians who served as high-ranking officials within the Trump administration have given the diplomatic boycott a cool reception.
On Twitter, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley characterized the diplomatic boycott as a “joke.” Haley believes that “China doesn’t care if Biden and his team show up.”
“They want our athletes,” the former South Carolina governor said.
Haley elaborated on her dissatisfaction with a diplomatic boycott in another tweet Monday.
“A diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics is window dressing,” she added. “A total boycott of the Olympics is leadership.”

In a previous interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation, Haley called for a complete boycott of the Beijing Games, which would entail the U.S. not competing at all.
Describing the “physical and sexual abuse that’s happening to women and children” in China as “unthinkable,” she illustrated the need to “fight for these people who can’t fight for themselves.”
“It’s not OK to say, ‘Oh, let’s just go fight and win some medals, and that’ll make everything OK,’” she said. “Anyone that says we should just go ahead and fight the good fight at the Olympics and turn our backs on genocide is not remembering the atrocities that have happened in history.”
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also criticized the diplomatic boycott for not going far enough.
In a tweet Monday, Pompeo declared that a “diplomatic boycott of the #Olympics is not enough.”
“The [Chinese Communist Party] doesn’t give a rip about a diplomatic boycott because, at the end of the day, they are still hosting the world’s athletes,” Pompeo tweeted.
A diplomatic boycott of the #Olympics is not enough. The CCP doesn’t give a rip about a diplomatic boycott, because at the end of the day, they are still hosting the world’s athletes. Joe Biden needs to stand up to the CCP. #BoycottBeijingOlympics

Pompeo concluded his tweet by proclaiming that “Biden needs to stand up to the CCP,” accompanied by the hashtag #BoycottBeijingOlympics.
