Tyler Perry Talks Whitney Houston Movie

Tyler Perry may be interested in bringing the story of the late Whitney Houston to the big screen.

Perry, the 44-year-old film mogul who usually writes, directs and produces his own films recently spoke about bringing a biopic about Houston to movie theaters. While promoting his new project "A Madea Christmas," Perry and actress Tika Sumpter spoke about the possibilities of recreating the late singer's life.

"I tell you whose story would be fascinating is Whitney [Houston]," Perry told TheUrbanDaily.com recently.

Although Perry cast Sumpter in his latest film, he let her know that she would not be his first choice to play Houston.

"You can't play Whitney," he told her playfully. "We'll talk about that later."

In the past, a number of rumors have swirled about people who would like to take on the role of Houston.

For the role of Houston, recording artist and actress who died at age 48 last year, actresses Jennifer Hudson and Halle Berry were rumored to be considered, according to previous reports from The Urban Daily. While no major film studio or production staff have been confirmed for the film, other actresses have expressed interest in portraying Houston.

Brandy Norwood, a good friend of Houston's who co-starred with the late singer in the television movie "Cinderella," spoke about a desire to star in her biopic.

"My dream role is to play Whitney Houston. Of course she would have to sing all the songs but I would love to play Miss Whitney," Norwood said in a previous interview with TrueExclusives.com. "I have her entire personality down pat, her '-isms' down pat. No offense ladies, there's a lot of talented ladies out there but nobody can play Whitney Houston like me."

However, another actress has expressed an interest in taking on the Houston role despite Norwood's desire. Meagan Good, a Christian actress who recently appeared in the movie "Anchorman 2," told Vibe Vixen that Houston was open to seeing a biopic on her life unfold.

"I want to do Whitney Houston's life story. I think that would be an incredible story to do," Good said in an interview before Houston's death. "I talked to Whitney a little bit about it, and she's open to it, so I want to see what happens with that. Hopefully, in the very, very near future."
