UFC Fight News 2016: Holly Holm Signs Contract Extension

Holly Holm took the world by storm when she knocked out the UFC's biggest and most dominant female fighter in Ronda Rousey. With her stealing the spotlight and the crown from the former champ, it's just fitting to give her a contract extension, and that is what Dana White is compelled to do.

Winning against one of the highest-paid fighters in the UFC is a surefire way to grab a huge payday and that is what exactly Holm is getting. The news was revealed by Holm's manager, Lenny Fresquez. "We have officially signed a multiyear extension with the UFC… and we're very happy with the extension," he told ESPN.

However, Fresquez or anyone in Holm's camp did not reveal any specific detail about the deal. It is likely though that Holm will now become a pay-per-view star for the coming years for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The kind of money (payouts) she will receive when she fights in the United States will be disclosed because most states require it.

And with the news of the extension, Holm herself couldn't wait to fight once again. It is still uncertain though if White will actually keep his word of giving Rousey the benefit of a rematch. If that happens, it should be as tough test for Holm to prove that her win against the former women's bantamweight champ wasn't a fluke.

There is some disagreement between the UFC and Holm's management though, since the former stressed that she won't be allowed to fight anyone except against Rousey, but the former champion must first recuperate from her injuries. As for Fresquez, he says that Holm didn't like waiting too long and would prefer to be fighting at least three times every year. By estimate, Rousey will only be allowed to fight in July, a date that Holm's camp said they can't wait.
