United Methodist Men Mobilize for Hunger Relief
Nearly 10,000 United Methodist men will mobilize this summer for hunger relief, spiritual renewal and fellowship. The anti-poverty effort is part of the July 15-17 National Gathering of United Methodist Men at Purdue University in West Lafayette.
According to the United Methodist News Service, the National Gathering – which is held once every four years – will start an initiative to involve 9,600 men in hunger relief and create 800 local church unites for men’s ministry.
The initiative will begin with a gleaning, a 40,000 pound potato drop, and a dried and canned food collection at the National Gathering.

Some 4,000 men are expected to attend the national gathering, and are also asked to bring five cans of vegetables, fruits and soups to help with the drive.
After all the potatoes, crops, and canned food is collected, the food will be distributed to hunger relief agencies in the area.
Meanwhile, during the gathering, the men will hear workshops by hunger relief ministries regarding the effort to feed millions around the world.
