Unreleased 'South Park' Game Discovered on Old Xbox Console (VIDEO)

An unreleased and apparently unannounced "South Park" video game was recently found on an original Xbox console.

An in-development "South Park" video game set in an open-world environment was uncovered in an old debug OG Xbox Devkit console bought at an auction at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in Oregon.

The console had several software demos and other unfinished games on it, including a dancing demo from "Happy Feet," and a game title called "Cave Girl." The "South Park" game numbered among the unfinished projects the console contained.

The incomplete title appeared to be a tie-in game, showing an early Alpha version found to be full of bugs and glitches.

Developed by Buzz Monkey Games before the "South Park" license was acquired by Obsidian Entertainment, the gameplay appeared to combine characters from "South Park" and "Grand Theft Auto."

The game, which was left unfinished, was discovered by qixmaster, a Nintendo Age forum moderator, and some footage of the apparently buggy gameplay video was posted online showing the game's unfinished build.

The gameplay takes place in what appears to be an open-world city where "South Park" and "Grand Theft Auto" characters could explore, perform tasks in, drive around, and even do battle in. From the available footage, it appears the game was created to be similar to the popular "GTA" clone, "The Simpsons: Hit & Run."

Designed using the same method as "GTA," it featured "South Park" graphics meant for sixth gen consoles, and from the footage alone, it would have been difficult to tell whether the game would have turned out to be a hit had it been finished and released in the market.

The discovery of the incomplete and unfinished "South Park" project comes on the heels of the upcoming "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" video game Ubisoft announced during the E3 2015. Developed by their San Francisco branch, the title will soon be launched for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at an as-yet-unannounced date.
