Uruguay vs Venezuela for 2016 -- Luis Suarez Playing? Copa America Centenario Preview With Live Streaming, Start Time, TV Channel Info
The biggest question for Thursday's Copa America match between Uruguay and Venezuela is if Luis Suarez will be able to play during his team's much-awaited game versus La Vinotinto.
After missing the game versus Mexico due to a hamstring injury, Suarez's participation in the upcoming match also remains uncertain. The forward was already seen active during the team's University of Pennsylvania training on Tuesday.
The Uruguay football team is hoping that the development in their star player could already signal his appearance on Thursday night at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. However, until now, nothing is sure on whether Suarez will be able to join the Copa America Group C match.
The FC Barcelona player sustained the injury late in May during the team's victory versus Sevilla for the Copa del Ray. Because of the injury, Suarez was not able to join Uruguay's Copa America opening game against Mexico, where the former lost.
ESPN noted that the Mexican team refused to back down from the match versus skilful Uruguay. Rafa Marquez and Hector Herrera paved the way for Mexico to bring home a 3-1 win versus their opponents. One of the reasons which Uruguay is looking at for their loss is the absence of Suarez.
Now, the team is keeping their fingers crossed to have the striker on the lineup for Thursday. "We are very happy with the way he is progressing with the injury," midfielder Alvaro Gonzalez said of his teammate. "He's still trying to control himself and doesn't want his body going too hard, but he is feeling good."
Uruguay will be going against a team that has secured a win versus Jamaica over the weekend. Venezuela's Josef Martinez scored the single goal for the team.
Jamaica, on the other hand, struggled because it started without star player Wes Morgan. Morgan only entered the game during the 40th minute.
For their game versus Uruguay, Venezuela said they would like to maintain their good performance in the Copa America Centenario tournament. "We were positive before [Copa America], and we want to continue this way," defender Rolf Feltscher told Philly.
